Annual Meeting
The Society convenes the world's largest scientific meeting devoted to menopause and also offers educational courses. Members receive discounted registration fees for the Annual Meeting and discounted pricing for program recordings.
Educational Materials
Menopause educational materials developed by NAMS for healthcare professionals and consumers are offered free or at discounted prices to members.
NAMS Web Site
Members and nonmembers alike benefit from accessing information found on the award-winning NAMS Web site. Members have exclusive access to the "members only" area on the site, which features an online Membership Directory and many other programs.
NAMS Exam Program
NAMS members receive preferred pricing when sitting for the competency examination to earn the prestigious certification of NAMS Menopause Practitioner.
NAMS Referral Lists
Members may elect to be listed in the Menopause Clinician referral lists, provided to consumers in search of help. Those who have achieved the Menopause Practitioner certification are highlighted.
Being a member of the leading menopause organization affords a unique opportunity to interface with the world's experts, sharing information for clinical practice and research.
Dues are nominal and vary by member category:
- Active Members are healthcare professionals such as basic scientists, physicians, nurses, publishers, health educators, and otherwise qualified individuals who are of high ethical standing and have demonstrated an interest in menopause and the objectives of this Society. Active Members have the right to attend the Annual Business Meeting and vote on Society matters.
- Associate Members are current students in a formal training program, such as undergraduate or graduate school or an approved residency or fellowship. Associate membership may be continued for three years following completion of the program. Associate membership may be transferred to Active membership within the three-year period at the discretion of the individual; an Associate membership is transferred automatically to Active status after this three-year period. Associate Members may not vote, and pay reduced dues.
- Honorary Members are those individuals who, in the opinion of the Society’s Board of Trustees, are deserving of this special recognition by virtue of exceptional contributions to the Society and/or to the field of menopause. Honorary Members do not have the right to vote or hold office, and do not pay dues.
- Life Members are those individuals who have been Active Members for at least 10 years, have reached the age of 70, and are transferred to this status at the request of the Society’s Executive Director. Life Members may attend the Business Meeting and vote, but they cannot hold office or receive a subscription to the official journal. Life Members pay no dues.
Please note that NAMS currently offers no opportunity for consumers to join the Society. NAMS is solely a professional, scientific organization.
With unprecedented numbers of women reaching menopause, it’s more important than ever for you to join The North American Menopause Society. NAMS membership is from January 1 through December 31. Member renewal notices for the coming year are mailed to members in November and due by January 15.
NAMS also offers a half-year membership available at a reduced fee after July 1. With this half-year option, membership July1-December 31 includes full member benefits from the application date through December 31.
Please note when joining for a full year between January 1 through June 30, back issues of the journal Menopause are provided. When joining for a half-year starting July 1, back issues of Menopause are not provided, but full text articles can be accessed free online by NAMS members. Whether joining for a full year or half year, back issues of Menopause Management are not provided.

- What period does my dues payment cover?
NAMS membership is from January 1 through December 31. Member renewal notices for the coming year are mailed to members in November and are due by January 15. - Are my NAMS annual dues tax deductible?
Dues to NAMS are not deductible as a charitable contribution but may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense. Donations to NAMS are deductible as a charitable contribution.
- When should I pay my annual dues?
Dues should be paid as soon as possible to continue receiving membership benefits without interruption. If dues are unpaid after 60 days, members benefits will be suspended.
- What form of payment does NAMS accept?
You can pay your dues with a personal check, business check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express.
- Can I pay my dues online?
You may pay your dues online. Simply fill out and submit this online form, including credit card payment information.
