Award Nominations

The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) is pleased to announce the availability of 15 awards this year. Recipients will be acknowledged during the NAMS 22nd Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, on September 21-24, 2011.

Please review the available awards and eligibility criteria below then complete the online Nomination Form before the deadline of June 3, 2011.

Winners will be notified by July 15, 2011.

NAMS Recognition Awards

1. NAMS/Thomas Clarkson Outstanding Clinical & Basic Science Research Award. 
This award will recognize a NAMS member’s outstanding menopause-related clinical or basic science research.

2. NAMS/Leon Speroff Outstanding Educator Award. 
This award will recognize a NAMS member’s excellence in menopause-related education of clinicians or the general public.

Marcie K. Richardson, MD (2010)

3. NAMS/Ann Voda Community Service Award. 
This award will recognize a healthcare provider within the NAMS membership who has demonstrated outstanding community service.

Peter F. Schnatz, DO, FACOG, FACP, NCMP (2010)

4. NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner of the Year. 
This award will recognize one current NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner (NCMP) for outstanding work with his/her patients. Both members and nonmembers of NAMS are eligible for consideration.

5. NAMS Media Award. 
This award will recognize a media professional whose body of work, through any media outlet (ie, print, television, radio, Internet) has served to expand the knowledge and understanding of menopause.

These recognition awards provide winners with the following:

  • Complimentary registration to the 2011 NAMS Annual Meeting
  • Commemorative plaque for display.
  • Invitation to a private reception with the NAMS Board of Trustees and members of the 2011 Awards Committee on Thursday, September 22, from 6:30 PM-7:30 PM.

Medical Residents Excellence Awards

This program, supported by grant funding from Teva Women’s Health, will recognize 10 medical residents in obstetrics and gynecology or primary care who have demonstrated excellence in their work to date in the field of menopause. Only nonmembers of the Society are eligible for consideration and recipients must commit to attending the NAMS 2011 Annual Meeting, including the Recognition Luncheon.

These excellence awards provide the winners with the following:

  • Reimbursement of travel expenses up to $1,800 to attend the Annual Meeting. (NAMS will waive the meeting registration fee.)
  • Commemorative plaque for display.
  • Complimentary half-year NAMS membership (July through December 2011).
  • Invitation to a Recognition Luncheon with representatives of the Society, the person who nominated them, and grantor representatives on Wednesday, September 21, from Noon to 1:00 PM.
