NAMS and Oprah Winfrey
Ms. Winfrey, one of the most trusted US personalities, has recently featured NAMS in the context of compounded bioidentical hormone therapy on her TV show, her Web blog, and (coming soon) in her magazine. This subject matter can be very confusing. In an attempt to sort it out, NAMS e-mailed an alert to its constituencies on February 5.
NAMS 2009 Annual Meeting a "Must-Attend"
Attending this year's Annual Meeting is a "must." Convening September 30-October 3 at the bayside Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, CA, the meeting promises an exceptional scientific program and ample opportunities for networking with the world's experts. The program information will be posted on the NAMS Web site as topics and speakers are confirmed.
And here is another compelling reason to attend the 2009 Annual Meeting: it's the last meeting for Dr. Wulf Utian as NAMS Executive Director. Come to thank him for all he's done for NAMS and women at menopause and beyond! And if you missed our previous e-mail announcement regarding the individual who has been selected to follow Dr. Utian as NAMS Executive Director...
Abstract Deadline is April 30
All are invited and encouraged to share their work in the field of menopause by submitting scientific abstracts to be considered for presentation at the NAMS 2009 Annual Meeting. The deadline for submitting your abstracts is April 30.
More Web-based Education About Hormone Therapy
NAMS and Medscape have collaborated yet again with Dialogues in Menopause Management: A Case-Based Approach to Counseling Patients About Hormone Therapy, an interactive Test & Teach CME activity featuring a videotaped vignette between a physician (Dr. Holly L. Thacker, Chair of the NAMS Professional Education Committee) and a patient. The focus of this program is how to counsel a postmenopausal woman suffering from severe vaginal atrophy who is considering vaginal estrogen therapy.
March 7 Is the May Exam Deadline
NAMS encourages all members who are licensed healthcare professionals to earn this prestigious credential. The 100-item multiple choice competency examination will be held in 12 US cities and Toronto, Canada, on May 16. The application deadline is March 7 (April 11 if you pay a late fee).
Cant make the May 16 test date? Apply for the exam being held just prior to the NAMS Annual Meeting in San Diego on September 30.
Need More CME?
Look on the NAMS Web site for top-notch educational activities. The opportunity to earn 2 hours of CME from the 2007 Satellite Symposia expires March 15, so hurry!
Meet Our Donors
A brand-new feature of the NAMS Giving Center Web page is a series of interviews with some of our generous donors during which they discuss why they support the Societys Mission. The first donor to be spotlighted is long-time NAMS member Dr. Maria E. Bleszynski from Surrey, BC, Canada.
