Learn more about SERMs through EMPREss
NAMS now offers, along with Penn State Medical College and Indicia Medical Education, a new provider education initiative called "EMPREss: Enhancing Menopause management through understanding the Physiology of Receptors of Estrogen," consisting of case consults, an interactive estrogen receptor (ER) challenge, and news summaries focused on integrating menopause-related patient care with a better understanding of the mechanisms and effects of estrogen and other ER ligands such as selective estrogen-receptor modulators (SERMs). Take a look at the first CME component of this initiative, Multiperspective Case Consult #1, in which an ob/gyn, an internist, and an endocrinologist comment on a single patient with severe symptoms.
Clinician-patient videos bring scientific information to life
Here's the latest NAMS/Medscape educational collaboration to enhance your menopause management skills. Called "Dialogues in Menopause Management: Counseling Postmenopausal Women About Initiating Estrogen Use for Severe Vasomotor Symptoms and Osteoporosis Prevention," this interactive Test & Teach CME activity features a videotaped vignette between Dr. Steven R. Goldstein and a "patient."
Osteoporosis drugs chart updated
NAMS has updated its helpful chart featuring all drugs approved in the United States and Canada for prevention and/or treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. It's available without charge on the NAMS Web site.

Menopause Awareness Month
Coming soon is an opportunity to step up your menopause-focused patient education. NAMS offers top-notch educational materials to help. September is the official Menopause Awareness Month in the United States; October is World Menopause Month as recently declared by
the IMS.
NAMS no longer associated with Changes magazine
NAMS once provided editorial oversight, and hence content credibility, for this consumer magazine distributed annually through healthcare providers' offices. Because the publisher materially breached its contract with NAMS, the Society is no longer involved, beginning with the 2009 issue.

Support our work with your gifts
"I feel very proud that NAMS has come so far in 20 years and is helping so many," said Dr. Wulf Utian. "How can you feel as good as I do? One way is to support the NAMS Foundation Annual Fund. Your tax-deductible gift will allow us to continue to enhance our services to women in search of unbiased information. Empowered with good information, they can make informed healthcare decisions around the time of menopause that will affect their health and quality of life now and for years to come."
