FDA Takes Action Against Compounded HT

The FDA announced on January 9 that warning letters have been sent to 7 pharmacy operations, indicating that the claims they make about the safety and effectiveness of their so-called “bioidentical hormone replacement therapy” are unsupported by medical evidence and are considered false and misleading by the agency. Pharmacies may not compound drugs containing estriol without investigational new drug authorization. There is no scientific basis for using saliva testing to adjust hormone levels. 19th Annual Meeting - OrlandoThe NAMS 2008 Annual Meeting will convene September 24-27 at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, FL. In addition to the spectacular venue, the scientific program (planned on the theme of “Is It Age or Is It Menopause?”) with great speakers debating controversial topics is sure to engage all attendees. “We promise you cutting-edge scientific information, clinical pearls, and unsurpassed networking opportunities,” said Dr. JoAnn Pinkerton, Chair of the Scientific Program Committee.


Submit Your Research for Presentation

All are invited and encouraged to share their work in the field of menopause by submitting scientific abstracts to be considered for presentation at the NAMS 2008 Annual Meeting. Submit your abstracts through the NAMS Web site between January 15 and April 30.
