Ms. Lynn Sobel
Nonprofit Consultant
Board Chair, The Masters School
Dobbs Ferry, NY
A. I first heard of NAMS through my obstetrician/gynecologist in New York City,
Dr. Steven Goldstein.
A. I believe that education is power. The more you know, the more you can help yourself and others. NAMS does a great job creating education materials about menopause for both professionals and consumers and they are able to disseminate this information to a wide audience.
A. The Pilzer Family Foundation primarily supports local organizations in Westchester County, NY. We also donate to other educational and health-related organizations outside the county.
A. I am a consultant focusing primarily on nonprofits. After receiving an MBA in marketing from Columbia University, I worked for the Nestlé Corporation in their marketing department. After that career, I worked in a family business involved in the motion picture industry. And in 1981, when I was pregnant with my first child, I started volunteering for local causes, primarily educational institutions. For the past 6 years, I have been Board Chair at The Masters School, a college preparatory boarding and day school for grades 5 to 12 in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
About 12 years ago, I combined my passion for marketing and the knowledge I have gained as a volunteer and fundraiser, and began consulting for nonprofit organizations. It is a truly rewarding field.
A. I would tell potential donors that menopause is a stage of life that affects all women—ourselves as well as our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, and neighbors. Menopause also affects the men who live and work with us. It is important for all of us to be aware of current, scientific information in order to help ourselves and the women in our lives.
A. I see my donation furthering the NAMS Mission to “promote the health and quality of life of women through an understanding of menopause” through the NAMS scientific meetings and educational literature that communicate the latest research about women’s midlife years to millions of people. |
