2017AGM650x65Banner

All are invited to submit abstracts of scientific research to be considered for presentation at the NAMS 28th Annual Meeting to be held at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, on October 11-14, 2017.

Submission Guidelines

Abstracts must be submitted using this online form.

ONLINE FORM
The deadline for regular submission is April 30, 2017. The deadline for late-breaking submission is July 1, 2017. Guidelines follow:

  • All presenting authors of accepted abstracts must be paid registrants to the NAMS Annual Meeting.
  • Each author may submit up to five abstracts for consideration.
  • There is a limit of 4,545 characters for the text of your submission. The character count includes spaces, title, authors, institutions, tables, and images. You will be advised of your character count usage throughout the submission process as you save and move to the next step. Your character count will also be displayed in the bar at the top of your submission.
  • Information submitted for consideration must not be identical to that presented at any meeting prior to the NAMS Annual Meeting and the study must not have been published as of the submission date.
  • Authors who wish to be considered for a New Investigator Award must have earned their degree within seven years, and not previously been given this award. Proof of eligibility is required.
  • All abstracts presented at the NAMS Annual Meeting will be published in Menopause.
  • NAMS reserves the right not to review an abstract, or not to publish an abstract in Menopause, if the abstract submission does not conform to all requirements.
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English, in a structured format.
  • Late-breaking submissions must be truly late-breaking, meaning the material was not available for submission by the regular deadline of April 30, 2017.

Types of Presentations

  • Oral Presentation: The top scoring abstracts will be invited to be presented from the podium in a Scientific Session held during the NAMS Annual Meeting.
  • Poster Presentation: All other abstract submissions will be considered for poster presentation during the Poster Session. Up to four Poster Prizes will be awarded, with a top prize of $1,000.

Featured Posters

The Abstract Review Committee will preselect three posters to be featured during the Poster Session on Thursday, October 12, 2017, from 6:00 - 7:00 PM. At a designated time during the Poster Session, the presenting author of each of the three selected posters will be invited to give a 5-minute oral "run through" of their poster, followed by a 5-minute Q&A with attendees. Poster titles and times along with the presenting author's name will be included within the Program.

Review and Selection Process

All abstracts are subjected to a blinded review by three independent members of the NAMS Abstract Review Committee. After being sent to the Abstract Review Committee for review, submissions may not be altered. Abstracts will be scored as follows:

  • Approach
  • Innovation
  • Impact of study findings on field of menopause
  • Clarity
Approach: Is the study design appropriate to the study aims? How strong are the research methods with respect to selection of participants (inclusion/exclusion) and procedures used to assess outcome measures? Is the analytic approach appropriate to the study goals? Do the study conclusions flow from the results? Are study limitations recognized?

Innovation: Does the project challenge and shift current research or clinical practice paradigms by utilizing novel theoretical concepts, approaches or methodologies, instrumentation or interventions?

Impact of Study: Does the project address an important problem or a critical barrier to progress in the field of women's health at midlife and beyond? Does the project improve scientific knowledge, technical capability and/or clinical practice? Does the project change the concepts, methods technologies, treatments, services, or preventative interventions that drive the field of women's health at midlife and beyond?

Clarity: Is the research study presented in a clear and easily understandable manner? Are the goals of the science, the findings, and the interpretation readily accessible to the audience?
