All are invited to submit abstracts of scientific research to be considered for presentation at the NAMS 24th Annual Meeting to be held in Dallas, TX, on October 9-12, 2013.
Submission Guidelines
Abstracts must be submitted using this online form.
ONLINE FORM
The deadline for regular submission is April 30. The deadline for late-breaking submission is July 15. Guidelines follow:
- All presenting authors of accepted abstracts must be paid registrants to the NAMS Annual Meeting.
- Each author may submit up to five abstracts for consideration.
- There is a limit of 4,545 characters for the text of your submission. The character count includes spaces, title, authors, institutions, tables, and images. You will be advised of your character count usage throughout the submission process as you save and move to the next step. Your character count will also be displayed in the green bar at the top of your submission.
- Information submitted for consideration must not be identical to that presented at any meeting prior to the NAMS meeting and the study must not have been published as of the submission deadline.
- Authors who wish to be considered for a New Investigator Award must have earned their degree within seven years, and not previously been given this award. Proof of eligibility is required.
- All abstracts presented at the NAMS meeting will be published in Menopause.
- NAMS reserves the right not to review an abstract – or not to publish an abstract in Menopause – if the abstract submission does not conform to all requirements.
- Abstracts must be submitted in English in a structured format.
- Late-breaking submissions must be truly late-breaking, meaning the material was not available for submission by the regular deadline of April 30.
Types of Presentations
- Oral Presentation: The top abstracts will be presented from the podium in a Scientific Session held during the NAMS Annual Meeting.
- Poster Presentation: All other abstract submissions will be considered for poster presentation during the Poster Session. All accepted posters will be eligible for one of four available poster prizes.
Review and Selection Process
All abstracts are subjected to a blinded review by the Abstract Review Committee. After being sent to the Abstract Review Committee for review, submissions may not be altered. Some of the key criteria used by the Abstract Review Committee in the selection process include:
- Is the hypothesis unique or based on previous work?
- Does the abstract contain new information or does the information confirm other data?
- Do the results support or not support the hypothesis?
- Are the statistical analyses appropriate?
- Are the conclusions valid based on the data, or can they not be supported by the data?
Notification of Receipt and Acceptance
- Receipt of abstract submissions will be acknowledged via e-mail to the contact author.
- After the review process is complete, authors will be notified regarding the acceptance or rejection of their submissions. Authors will then be required to confirm that they will present at the NAMS Annual Meeting.
- Abstracts will not be included in the Meeting Program nor published in the journal Menopause unless the presenting author has paid the registration fee prior to July 31 for regular submissions, and prior to August 31 for late-breaking submissions.
Cancellations
Authors of accepted presentations who do not present their work or fail to have it presented by a co-author will not be permitted to have abstracts considered for presentation at the Annual Meeting for the following two years. Exceptions will be considered if NAMS is given prompt notification of extreme unforeseen circumstances.
