Dr. Mark Cline. Through the NAMS Mentorship Program, directed by
Dr. Pauline Maki, potential Mentees who are NAMS members may apply to be matched with a NAMS Mentor based on the overlap between areas of research and skill set, as well as the fit between each Mentor's interests and the Mentee's goals, qualifications, and interests. The application form for the first 2-year term must be returned no later than August 1, 2009.

Learn more about SERMs through EMPREss
NAMS now offers, along with Penn State Medical College and Indicia Medical Education, a new provider education initiative called
"EMPREss: Enhancing Menopause management through understanding the Physiology of Receptors of Estrogen," consisting of case consults, an interactive estrogen receptor (ER) challenge, and news summaries focused on integrating menopause-related patient care with a better understanding of the mechanisms and effects of estrogen and other ER ligands such as selective estrogen-receptor modulators (SERMs). Take a look at the first CME component of this initiative, Multiperspective Case Consult #1, in which an ob/gyn, an internist, and an endocrinologist comment on a single patient with severe symptoms.

NAMS no longer associated with Changes magazine
NAMS once provided editorial oversight, and hence content credibility, for this consumer magazine distributed annually through healthcare providers' offices. Because the publisher materially breached its contract with NAMS, the Society is no longer involved, beginning with the 2009 issue.

Let NAMS help you help your patients
Over the years, the number of books about menopause has increased substantially, with hundreds of publications now available. Unfortunately, not all titles present accurate information. So when your patients are interested in reading more than the materials developed by NAMS, recommend a visit to our Web site's Consumer Community. It includes expert reviews of popular menopause books.
